Accessibility isn’t always a high in software and web development. Global Accessibility Awareness Day is a prompt to us all to make an effort to improve.

Since joining Kin + Carta a few months back, I’ve seen a real emphasis on ensuring accessibility is considered at every stage of developing a product.

What is Global Accessibility Awareness Day? (GAAD for short)

Taken from the GAAD website:

The purpose of GAAD is to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access and inclusion, and the more than One Billion people with disabilities/impairments.

The idea is to get people talking, thinking and ultimately making improvements in our designs and code.

In that spirit, I wanted to post about a small change I made yesterday to improve a component for an un-named large e-commerce retail site.

The change isn’t all that big, but it hopefully improves the experience for a few people.
